E - A-Z Cross Stitch Style

E is for Eevee and Ellen

It's Day E of the A-Z Challenge.  I'm cross stitching two of my alphabet patterns for the challenge - a Pokemon one and a Supernatural one.  Both patterns (plus may others) are available from my Etsy store.

The Pokemon Alphabet
E is for Eevee, my favourite pokemon.  My cat is even named after her.  I love Eevee because she was the first Pokemon in the game to have a choice of evolutions - depending on what stone you gave her.  It did mean you had to trade if you wanted all three types in the original game - Eevee was a pokemon you were given, not one you could catch.  She's just so cute!

The Supernatural Alphabet
E is for Ellen Harvelle - the owner of the bar/tavern that Hunters like to visit.  Along with her daughter Jo, she was the first strong, recurring female character in the series.  Not really a mother-figure for the Winchester brothers - more a voice of reason and reality.  I've already mentioned her episode with Bobby in the alternate reality (interesting concept - what would have happened if Titanic hadn't sunk?).  Her exit from the show was one of the most powerful and gut wrenching moments in the series too.

Over at Travel Like A Geek I am working my way through an A-Z of the filming locations used in the Harry Potter series.  E is for Edinburgh.

Happy Stitching!

D - A-Z Cross Stitch Style

D is for Dragonite and Dean

It's D-Day of the A-Z Challenge.  I'm cross stitching two of my alphabet patterns for the challenge - a Pokemon one and a Supernatural one.  Both patterns (plus may others) are available from my Etsy store.  On with the progress shots!

The Pokemon Alphabet
D is for Dragonite, the dragon Pokemon.  He's just so cute!  He's also the only official sprite who faces the opposite direction, no idea why.  I've changed the pattern in my store so that he now faces the same way as everyone else because it was messing with my OCD.  It also amuses me that he evolves from the snake-like Dragonair... not that the Pokemon evolutions really make that much sense.

The Supernatural Alphabet
D is for Dean Winchester, the elder of the Winchester brothers.  Dean loves pie, music, girls, his car, killing demons, and his little brother.  He's been to hell and to heaven and to all the places in between.  He had to become a surrogate parent for his brother following his mother's death, and his father's obsession with demon-hunting.  For me, he comes across as a more realistic/relate-able character than little-brother Sam - his reactions to people and situations.  Maybe it's because I'm also an eldest child and I know how irritating younger brothers can be :).  The angle of the photo and the loose white threads make his legs look really short.  They aren't that short on the actual stitching, I swear.

Over at Travel Like A Geek I am working my way through an A-Z of the filming locations used in the Harry Potter series.  D is for the Dartford Crossing.

Happy Stitching

C - A-Z Cross Stitch Style

C is for Charizard and Castiel

Day 3 of the A-Z Challenge, where hundreds of bloggers across the internet are writing posts featuring a different letter of the alphabet throughout April.  It is being hosted here if you want to check out some of the amazing blogs people are writing this month.  I'm cross stitching two of my alphabet patterns for the challenge - a Pokemon alphabet and a Supernatural alphabet.  All of my patterns are available from my Etsy store if you want to check them out.
The Pokemon Alphabet
C is for Charizard, the third evolution of Charmander, one of the "starter" Pokemon in the original red and blue versions.  Charmander was usually my choice for starter Pokemon, so I occasionally got to see Charizard - depending on how long I managed to play for before deleting the game, having to hand it over to my brothers, etc.  I'm a little bit of a pyromaniac (love lighting matches and candles and just watching them burn, or adding things to campfires) which is probably why I loved the fire aspect of Charizard.

The Supernatural Alphabet
C is for Castiel the angel, and one of my favourite characters in Supernatural.  I love his monotone and dry wit.  Castiel is the angel who pulled Dean from hell, and who helps (to a lesser or greater extent) the Winchester brothers fight the demons and save the world.  My favourite episode with Castiel is when the brothers were transported to the alternate reality where Supernatural was a TV show - Micha's grin and "let me play too" attitude was priceless.

After a quiet Sunday catching up on some stitching, I'm feeling a little more organised and less paniky about this challenge.  I have this week of work so should be able to get myself enough ahead that I manage to make it through the challenge unscathed!  Only time will tell.

I'm also completing the A-Z Challenge over at Travel Like a Geek where I am working my way through an A-Z of the filming locations used in the Harry Potter series - all locations that I visited while I lived in the UK.  C is for the Cathedral and Castle in Durham.

Happy Stitching,

B - A-Z Cross Stitch style

B is for Blastoise and Bobby Singer

Day 2 of the A-Z Challenge, which is being hosted here if you want to check out some of the amazing blogs people are writing this month.  I'm cross stitching two of my alphabet patterns for the challenge.  All of my patterns are available here if you want to check them out (or purchase your own to stitch-along!)

On with my progress:
Pokémon Alphabet
B is for Blastoise, the third evolution of Squirtle, one of the Pokémon you can choose at the beginning of the original game.  Blastoise is such a brute of a Pokémon, particularly when you compare him to sweet, chubby little Squirtle but I do love that it looks like he stores his water in cannons on his back.  I tended to choose Charmander when I played, so was never as familiar with Blastoise's skills.  Each to their own.

Supernatural Alphabet
B is also for Bobby Singer, the surrogate father and mentor to the Winchester brothers.  I loved Bobby - his dry wit, intelligence, maturity, and down-to-earth manner made him such a refreshing change from the (occasionally) bickering brothers.  Not that he didn't have demons of his own, and not that he always made the right/sensible choices!  My favourite episode of his has to be the one set in an alternate universe when he was married to Ellen (more on her later).

Over at Travel Like A Geek I am working my way through an A-Z of the filming locations used in the Harry Potter series.

I'm beginning to get a bit freaked out by the challenge I've set myself - writing two blogs as well as trying to finish two cross stitches.  I was hoping to be a lot more ahead of where I am now - blog posts scheduled and a lot more pre-stitching done.  However, what with moving a couple of weeks ago, not having internet and then going home to visit my parents for Easter, I haven't had as much free time as I was anticipating.  Thank goodness I've got next week off work so I can catch up and then have more time to visit everyone else's blogs.  Wish me luck!

Happy Stitching

A - A to Z Challenge, cross stitch style

A is for Abra and Anna

And we're off.  Good luck everyone!

For the A to Z Blog challenge, I'm stitching two of the Alphabet patterns available from my Etsy Store, Fangirl Stitches.

Today's A progress:
Pokémon Alphabet
A is for Abra.  He was always one of my favourite Pokémon when I used to play the Red or Blue versions.  Hard to catch because he kept transporting, and I always felt so successful when I finally managed to trap him.  Putting him to sleep was a good trick.

Supernatural Alphabet
A is for Anna Milton the Angel.  I really liked her character when she first appeared in the series - finally another strong female character.  Which of course meant she wasn't around for too long.  Ever since the eldest of my three brothers pointed out that Supernatural seem to kill off all their strong female leads , it's been really obvious and really bugging me.  I'm several seasons behind the current story line (as in I'm still watching season 7 and I think it's up to about 11 now) so maybe things will change in the future.... I'll have to wait and see.

Over on my other blog Travel Like A Geek I'm talking about my adventures to different Harry Potter film locations around the UK and Ireland.  Today is A for Alnwick Castle.  Please stop by and check it out.

Are you cross stitching for the A to Z Challenge?  Please let me know so I can come and admire your progress!

Happy stitching (and blogging!)
